Who was Emanuel Swedenborg? (The Man who Reviewed Heaven… and Hell).

I would like to introduce Emanuel Swedenborg. It is hard to know where to start with him as he has so many accomplishments. He had a focus on creation, the how, what, and why of all things natural and mechanical. He was an accomplished engineer, scientist, inventor and had made in-depth studies of Anatomy and Physiology.

Plato, Descartes and Aristotle and other ancient Philosophers were high on his reading list, most likely with his favourite beverage… coffee with a couple of tablespoons of sugar!

Then in his 50’s he dropped everything and devoted himself to finding out the real story of heaven and hell, even “visiting heaven” and talking to angels and the Lord.

For this missive I will not go to deeply into his academic and work achievements.

Instead I will take a look at his thoughts and writings on his spiritual thoughts and experiences, of which he, like Eliphas Levi (a 100 years later), didn’t seriously begin studying until he was into his 40’s.

The differences of course, were the approaches taken to arrive at their final conclusions.
